Body Broken
Body broken
And blood shed for me…
More horrid than the implement,
The fact that You were innocent;
A bitter death embraced with grace,
Forgiving those
Who nailed,
Who placed
You
On the cross
To die.
In words of life,
A lowly thief
Found glory in that hour.
Distant disciples
Stared in distress,
Not grasping the need
Or the power.
The laying down freely of innocent’s right,
The meek acceptance of penalty’s plight;
The willfull submission,
Yielding of all
To give flesh and blood,
To rend the veil,
To die and to rise
That the gates of hell
Might not prevail.
No purpose or plan
Of Yours will fail!
Though the world senses
Senselessness,
Your breaking bought
Hope for the sinful,
Life for the lost.
