One-Armed Chef

A one-armed chef
And a quick-witted cook
When the kids are demanding,
The resources scant.
As time races past
The clock hands fly,
The original plan
Foiled by a cry.
Babe in one arm,
I quickly search,
Pulling unusual ingredients
From each of the shelves.
Cracking eggs,
Beating the mess,
Hoping they’ll savor
These mixed up tastes.
As dinnertime ends,
I finally rest…
Another meal done
By this quick-witted cook,
This one-armed chef.
