The Lot of a King

Battered and beaten,
The lot of a King
Who suffered to give
The most excellent thing.

 

Raised up in shame
By His unknowing own;
In supposed defeat,
Brought low and entombed.

 

Christ crucified,
The enemy failed;
Hate overcome
As perfect love prevailed.
