I lean on You,
And not myself
When direction is unclear;
Though uncertainty clings
As I step in faith,
I’m sure that You are near.

Though pillar of cloud
And pillar of fire
Are not in my line of sight,
I lean on Your word
And take up my shield
Of faith and I move in spite
Of fear, of failure,
Of terrible foes;
I stay close to You
In the presence of woes.

Beside the still water,
Or through the stream,
Though I walk in a shadowed place;
Through rocky terrain,
Or pasture and plain,
You are close in every step that I take.

Director of my path,
I thank You for this day;
I praise Your name with all I am
And follow in Your way!
