The Presence of Parents
The presence of Mom, safe and secure,
A presence whose being calms every fear;
In littlest ones, in older as well,
The tiniest fear, Mom’s presence will quell.
Her presence desired,
Somehow, firmly felt;
Quizzical glance,
The babe looks about,
Reassured by a smile
And a glimpse of the one
Whose presence sustains, maintains,
Entertains
Her heart.
Expectant, desiring
The face of Mom,
No other presence will
Satisfy so.
The presence of You, Lord, safe and secure…
Your presence with us calms every fear;
In Your littlest ones, in older as well,
The tiniest fear, Your presence will quell.
Your presence desired,
Somehow, firmly felt;
Quizzical glance,
Your lambs look about,
Reassured by a word
And a glimpse of the One
Whose presence sustains, maintains,
And trains
Our hearts.
Expectant, desiring
Your face, oh Lord,
No other presence will
Satisfy so.
