Mommies in the trenches
Marching diligently on,
Mommies doing so much
As they faithfully stand guard
O’er hearts and homes and lives
Placed within their care…
Mommies in the trenches
To wage homefront’s warfare!

Cleaning, mopping,
Watching, waiting,
Pondering, wondering,
Observing, Noticing…
Praying!

These trenches are windows
Into life, Lord, into You;
These trenches bring such treasures
That so many never know…
And so the mommies in the trenches
Garbed in armor true
Press on and pray
And fill each day
With hearts set fully on You!
