Grace and disgrace
By a simple prefix,
Separate…
By a mighty chasm,
Opposing ends
Reached by opposing means…
Grace and disgrace,
Results of defeat…
The one extending hope,
The other, dismay;
One leaving room to continue,
And the other driving away.

Grace and disgrace…
Encourage, discourage…
Miss or dismiss;
Does my heart see the way
To lovingly receive
He who has wronged,
Or stand judgementally fast
In its own self-righteousness sway?
