Mommy, Don’t Go!
“Mommy, don’t go…come back soon…”
Though my errand is small,
Her cries linger on;
Should I tarry too long,
I remember her plea
And I hurry on home…
I want her to see
That my promise is true,
That I meant what I said,
That if I leave for a while,
My return will soon be at hand.
Sadly, I know, in this fallen world
That it’s possible for my promise to fail,
But You, Lord, You promise in perfect truth;
I can believe what I’ve heard and read in Your word.
Though You tarry a while,
I can’t help but smile,
Knowing that soon, You’ll return.
